Chelsea have met with the agent of Kalidou Koulibaly with some suggesting the deal could be very close. The Senegalese international has twelve months left of his contract in Naples and has yet to agree an extension to his deal, despite the club offering him €6m a season in the latest round of talks.
SportItalia’s Alfredo Pedulla confirmed that the Blues had met with Fali Ramadani this week, and has suggested that if he were to be sold, Chelsea would be the most likely destination.
Juventus have held a longstanding interest in the defender but Napoli are highly unlikely to entertain offers from their historic rivals.
French journalist Fabrice Hawkins suggests that talks may be at a more advanced stage, reporting that Koulibaly is in fact very close to joining Chelsea.
According to Hawkins, the deal would cost €40m and Koulibaly would sign a three-year deal.
The Times, The Guardian, The Athletic and a number of others also report that talks have now accelerated and a move is very close to happening.
