In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship, Como have announced a unique initiative following their recent match against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The Lombardy club will offer a free beer to every Napoli supporter attending the return fixture at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports how the match between Napoli and Como was a thrilling affair, with Napoli taking an early lead after just 25 seconds, followed by an equalizer from Strefezza for Como, and finally a decisive goal from Romelu Lukaku securing three crucial points for Conte’s team. The spectacle, however, extended beyond the pitch, with both sets of fans contributing to an exceptional atmosphere.
Como expressed their gratitude through an Instagram post, thanking Napoli and its supporters for the remarkable display of sportsmanship during and after Friday’s game. They also praised the atmosphere at the Maradona stadium.
“Como 1907 would like to sincerely thank Napoli and its fans for the wonderful demonstration of sportsmanship following the match on Friday evening,” the club stated. “The ambiance at the Maradona stadium and the reactions of both sets of fans after the game were unparalleled.”
As a gesture of appreciation, the team coached by Cesc Fabregas announced, “This is why we will be treating every travelling Napoli supporter to a beer at the return match at the Sinigaglia stadium.”
While this gesture is certainly novel and commendable, it’s not entirely without precedent in Como. For several years now, it has been a tradition for various bars in the city to participate in similar initiatives.
Napoli responded to Como’s announcement a few hours later through their social media channels, warmly welcoming the initiative.
