Roma’s Technical Director Florent Ghisolfi expressed strong dissatisfaction with the officiating following the team’s draw against Monza. Speaking to Sky Sport after the match, Ghisolfi voiced the club’s perspective on what they perceived as subpar refereeing, particularly regarding a potential penalty incident involving Baldanzi.
“I don’t usually come to talk about refereeing, but what happened today is unacceptable,” Ghisolfi stated firmly. He emphasized that the incident with Baldanzi appeared to be a clear penalty to most observers. While acknowledging that the referee was at some distance from the play, Ghisolfi questioned why VAR did not intervene in the situation.
The Technical Director stressed the need for respect towards the players, the coach, and the fans. “I demand respect for the players and their effort, for the manager, and for our supporters,” he said. Ghisolfi revealed that there was significant frustration in the locker room following the match.
Ghisolfi noted that the referee did not provide any explanations for the controversial decision. “The referee didn’t give us any explanations, but we will ask why he made this decision that we don’t understand,” he added.
