Inter and Milan players to be questioned in Ultras Investigation

Start

The Serie A may be on an international break, but the Milan Prosecutor’s investigation into the Inter and Milan ultras continues to gain momentum. In the coming days, the investigation is expected to enter a crucial phase as the Prosecutor’s office prepares to summon players and staff members from both clubs who may have had contact with Marco Ferdico and Luca Lucci, the arrested leaders of the two Milan fan groups.

Calciomercato report that among those expected to be called in for questioning are Davide Calabria from Milan, and Nicolò Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Simone Inzaghi, and Javier Zanetti from Inter. While these individuals do not face risks in terms of ordinary justice, their situation could be different when it comes to sports justice. Prosecutor Chiné has already requested documents and is now waiting to learn about their positions.

Calabria reportedly met with Luca Lucci in Cologno Monzese. Simone Inzaghi was contacted by Marco Ferdico to obtain tickets for the Champions League final in Istanbul. For the same reason, Inter’s vice president Javier Zanetti and former defender Marco Materazzi were also contacted. These individuals could be summoned in the coming days, as they have no commitments with national teams.

Barella’s situation is similar, although he was not initially included in the list of persons informed about the facts. Ferdico claimed to have met him during the ticket campaign. The timeline for questioning Calhanoglu may be extended, as he is currently with the Turkish national team. Ferdico allegedly had several dinners with him as well.

The investigation also touches on former Inter player Milan Skriniar, now with PSG. Skriniar reportedly had a conversation with Ferdico and his collaborator Mauro Nepi during the weeks when the player had hinted at his unwillingness to renew his contract with Inter. This meeting was initially planned to take place at the team’s training center but ultimately occurred at a bar near the stadium, without the club’s presence.

Prosecutor Chiné may decide to apply Article 4, relating to sporting disloyalty, if the violations found do not fall under Article 25, which concerns violence prevention. Article 4 carries a much broader range of sanctions, including possible suspension periods for players and Simone Inzaghi, and a ban for executives like Zanetti.
