Following Lazio’s impressive 4-1 win over Nice in the Europa League, manager Marco Baroni expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance in the post-match press conference.
Baroni began by commending his players’ interpretation of the game: “I’m happy for the boys, they interpreted the match well. I watched Nice’s last game, they’re a dangerous team. Now we need to recover quickly because we have Empoli coming up, but I’m happy for my fans.”
The coach acknowledged the challenging conditions, particularly in the second half: “It’s a shame about the goal we conceded, but in the second half we quickly regained control of the game. Then the field became difficult, they have a lot of physicality. We managed the rain well too.”
Baroni highlighted the team’s receptiveness to his tactical approach: “From the start, I had good perceptions; the team was listening to my game proposal. It’s to the credit of all the boys. On Sunday we have an important match, we mustn’t let our guard down.”
Special praise was reserved for striker Taty Castellanos, who scored a brace on his birthday: “Castellanos is a strong player, an extraordinary guy. He must always play with this fervor. He has jumping ability, quality, technique, and works hard for the team.”
The victory marks Lazio’s second win in the Europa League group stage, following their 3-0 success against Dynamo Kyiv. The team will now shift focus to their upcoming Serie A fixture against Empoli, as they look to maintain their momentum across all competitions.
