Inter Milan defend actions in Ultras Investigation

Start

Inter Milan have taken a strong stance in response to the ongoing investigation into potential links between ultras groups and organized crime. The club, which is not under direct investigation and considers itself a victim in the matter, has firmly rejected the possibility of being placed under external management.

Calciomercato report how In a proactive move, Inter had already submitted a defensive memorandum to the Prosecutor’s Office on April 30th, following warnings from authorities about the risk of criminal infiltration in organized fan groups. The club maintains that it has consistently acted “in compliance with the law, in constant connection with the relevant authorities.”

One of the key points emphasized by Inter is their transparent communication with law enforcement, particularly the Digos (General Investigations and Special Operations Division). The club states that every interaction with ultras groups and decisions regarding concessions were always conducted with full disclosure to the Digos, often through multiple daily communications that can be verified through certified emails.

A specific instance highlighted by Inter involves the allocation of tickets for the 2023 Champions League final in Istanbul against Manchester City. The club asserts that the Digos was informed of the decision to assign an additional 200 tickets to the Curva Nord fan group. In total, the Curva Nord had access to approximately 1,500 tickets for the final, a decision made after consultation with law enforcement agencies.

Inter also stresses that they have never provided complimentary or discounted tickets to ultras groups. Furthermore, the club distances itself from any involvement with street vendors or merchandise bearing the Curva Nord logo.

Regarding the controversial issue of parking management, Inter point out that upon learning of Caminiti’s familial connection to an ‘Ndrangheta boss named Papandrea, they promptly terminated their relationship with the Kiss&Fly company.
