A recent investigation into the ultras of Inter Milan and AC Milan has revealed some startling information about the relationship between the clubs and their hardcore supporters. The probe, which has already led to 19 arrests, has uncovered potential leaks and profitable connections between Inter officials and ultras.
According to the investigation documents (as relayed by Calciomercato), Inter Milan were reportedly aware of the ongoing investigation, as were the leaders of the Curva Nord, the club’s main ultra group. These leaders allegedly maintained constant dialogue with their counterparts from AC Milan’s Curva Sud.
An intercepted conversation between Marco Ferdico, a leader in the Inter ultra group currently in custody, and Massimiliano Silva, a club official responsible for fan relations, revealed concerns about potential judicial investigations. The discussion centered around season tickets for the second green tier, which had been separated from the Irriducibili group, reportedly ousted through intimidation. The aim was to maximize profits from stadium ticket sales.
Ferdico reportedly warned Silva that if CEO Giuseppe Marotta and Gianluca Cameruccio maintained their “refusal” regarding the ticket issue, he would “demand explanations.” He also persistently requested 1,500 tickets for the 2023 Champions League final in Istanbul, which were allegedly obtained and resold at inflated prices.
The investigation documents state that Ferdico claimed to have met with players Calhanoglu and Barella to discuss “criticisms arising from the ticket issue.” He allegedly even learned of the Turkish player’s complaints about the club’s behavior.
On the AC Milan side, the investigation uncovered “significant” connections between Luca Lucci, leader of the Rossoneri ultras, and Napoli ultras. Lucci allegedly procured “hundreds of tickets” for a Champions League quarter-final match for “one of the ultra leaders from the ‘Sanità’ district,” with some tickets reportedly destined for “mafia clan members in the city.”
The prosecutor’s office has stated that all these circumstances will be thoroughly investigated further.
