Luca Gotti, the manager of Lecce, shared his thoughts following his team’s loss to AC Milan. In his post-match interview, Gotti highlighted several key moments that he believed shaped the outcome of the game.
Gotti began by praising his team’s performance in the first 38 minutes, describing it as “very good.” However, he expressed frustration with the free kick that led to Milan’s opening goal, calling it “non-existent.” He explained, “Dorgu can’t disappear, it’s Leao who runs into him. From a non-existent free kick, you concede a goal. We hadn’t conceded anything and then we conceded on this incident.”
The manager also pointed out another controversial moment that led to Milan’s second goal, stating, “Then there’s the foul on Dorgu that wasn’t called, from which the second goal comes.”
Gotti emphasized the importance of maintaining composure in crucial moments, saying, “There needs to be the ability in those minutes for those who, with rationality, know that the end of the first half is coming, to stay calm, trying to rebuild the foundations that were there in the first 38 minutes.”
He acknowledged that Milan sensed Lecce’s fear and capitalized on it: “Milan senses that we’re scared and steps on the accelerator: we force our plays and this all works to Milan’s advantage.”
Reflecting on Lecce’s approach to the game, Gotti stated, “We didn’t come to obstruct, but we tried to play with our quality. Forcing plays, however, is a different thing, we helped Milan to hurt us.”
The manager also took a moment to praise young player Dorgu, highlighting his potential: “The margins are big, he has great physical, technical, and mental qualities. Where he can play depends on the contexts. There are players who don’t have a role because they don’t know how to do anything well, Dorgu instead has many roles because he knows how to do many things well: he can be defined as an all-rounder.”
