Napoli manager Antonio Conte expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following their victory against Palermo. Speaking after the 5-0 win, Conte highlighted the team’s approach and determination.
“The approach to the game was important. I liked the desire, the determination, even the nastiness. We wanted to advance to the next round and we told ourselves that before the start,” Conte stated. However, he emphasized the need for continuous improvement, adding, “But there will always be work to do to improve some flaws.”
When asked about standout players, Conte refrained from singling out individuals, preferring to focus on the team’s collective effort. He did, however, mention McTominay’s strong performance. “I don’t like to make merit rankings. What I appreciate about the historical group is that it’s composed of good guys. Those who arrived, like McTominay, Gilmour, Buongiorno, all of them, Spinazzola, have integrated very well. We work well and this can be perceived on the field,” Conte explained.
Drawing parallels with his previous experience at Inter Milan, Conte noted, “When I arrived at Inter, we worked hard to rebuild everything, a bit like what’s happening now at Napoli. We’re rebuilding on an old base. The new arrivals have brought new energy and they are serious guys.”
Conte also emphasized the importance of having a week between matches, stating, “For me, it’s very important. It allows me to try different situations to make them sink into the players’ heads.”
