Barella Injury setback, expected to be out until after International break

Start

Inter Milan’s midfielder Nicolò Barella is set to miss upcoming matches due to a muscle injury sustained during the recent derby defeat against AC Milan. Medical examinations at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano have revealed a strain in the rectus femoris of his right thigh.

The Italian international, who was one of the few bright spots in Inter’s disappointing derby performance, was substituted in the 74th minute of the match due to discomfort. Initially hoped to be minor fatigue, further tests have confirmed a more serious issue.

Calciomercato report that Barella is expected to be out of action until after the international break, missing at least three upcoming fixtures. The club’s medical staff will reassess his condition next week, with the aim of having him fit for the match against Roma on October 20th.

This injury comes at a crucial time for Inter, who are looking to bounce back from their derby loss. The team faces Udinese this Saturday, followed by a Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday, and a Serie A encounter with league leaders Torino the following weekend.

Manager Simone Inzaghi will need to reshuffle his midfield in Barella’s absence. The player’s energy and creativity will be sorely missed as Inter attempts to regain momentum in both domestic and European competitions.

The Nerazzurri will use the rare four-day training block ahead to prepare for these challenges without one of their key players. This setback adds pressure to an already demanding schedule for the reigning Italian champions as they navigate a packed fixture list in the coming weeks.
