The sudden resignation of Lina Souloukou has left a significant void in AS Roma’s management structure, one that the club’s ownership must swiftly address. Dan and Ryan Friedkin, absent from the Stadio Olimpico during Roma’s 3-0 victory over Udinese under Ivan Juric’s management, are expected to temporarily entrust day-to-day operations to General Secretary Maurizio Lombardo while they search for a suitable replacement for the Greek manager.
Calciomercato report that several names have emerged as potential candidates for the CEO position. Among them are Umberto Gandini, the former Roma CEO who currently serves as president of the Italian Basketball League and was previously a long-time executive at AC Milan. Another contender is Giampaolo Montali, a former Roma executive during the Sensi presidency era.
Two high-profile international candidates are also under consideration. Zibì Boniek, a former Roma player and current UEFA vice-president, and Zvonimir Boban, ex-player and executive at AC Milan, are both seen as potential choices that could bring significant experience and global perspective to the role.
The Friedkins are expected to return to Trigoria, Roma’s training center, at the beginning of next week. On their agenda will also be the future of Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi, who has yet to be officially presented and was closely associated with Souloukou.
This CEO search comes at a crucial time for Roma, as the club looks to stabilize its management structure and continue its push for success both domestically and in European competitions. The choice of the new CEO will be pivotal in shaping the club’s future direction and strategy.
