Bergomi’s scathing critique of Inter: “Old and slow in defence, not the strongest in the league”

Beppe Bergomi, former Inter captain and current Sky Sport pundit, delivered a ruthless analysis of Inter Milan following their 2-1 derby loss to AC Milan. Speaking on “Sky Calcio Club,” Bergomi shared his thoughts on the current state of the Nerazzurri.

“They’re not the strongest team in the league,” Bergomi stated, “but last year they were the best. If they return with that mindset, they can compete. Against Genoa, Inter played a good game, perhaps better than last year, but they conceded due to lapses in concentration.”

Bergomi’s criticism then focused specifically on the performance of the defensive line. “Tonight, you must realize that Milan is in better form and be content with a 1-1 draw. If they don’t regain their attitude, it becomes difficult. And as soon as the opponents accelerate, the defense, in some players, is old and slow.”

The former Inter stalwart also pointed out another deficiency in Inzaghi’s squad during his Sky Sport intervention. “They lack players who can beat their man. Either they play a game like the one in Manchester, where they close down and counter-attack, or they struggle to control the match.”
