In a thrilling Serie A encounter at the Stadio Via del Mare, Parma managed to salvage a 2-2 draw against Lecce with two late goals. Parma manager Fabio Pecchia was elated with his team’s resilience and spoke to Sky Sport after the match.
“This draw is worth a victory,” Pecchia declared, highlighting the significance of the result. “I didn’t see any mental block in my players. The team played well. We made mistakes, but we were always in the game. It was a beautiful match.”
Pecchia praised his team’s character, especially after being two goals down with just five minutes remaining. “For us, it’s like a victory. The team never lost its composure and never lost its identity. They tried to play their game. It’s a great draw for the group.”
The manager compared this result to their previous match, where they lost a two-goal lead. “Last Sunday, we were winning 2-0 and then lost. Today, we came back. We played the entire match, even when we were behind. We must continue to work this way, with spirit and enthusiasm. We need to have that lightness to enter the field to play.”
Pecchia also discussed Parma’s long-term project, emphasizing their focus on youth development. “The idea is clear. Since I arrived at Parma, the philosophy has been to focus on young players. We reached Serie A with a group of players we own, and now most of the players are from last year. We want to give economic and technical solidity to be able to grow. We aim to improve players and achieve sporting results.”
