Done Deal: Roma to appoint Ivan Juric as new head coach

Start

AS Roma have  officially chosen Ivan Juric as their new head coach, following the unexpected dismissal of Daniele De Rossi. The Friedkin Group, Roma’s owners, have turned to the experienced Croatian tactician, formerly of Torino and Genoa, to lead the team forward. Ironically, Roma’s most recent match ended in a draw against Genoa, Juric’s former club.

Calciomercato report how the agreement with Juric includes a contract until June 30, 2025, with an option for an additional season if the team qualifies for the Champions League. Matteo Paro will join Juric as his assistant coach. The new manager’s first challenge will be a home fixture against league leaders Udinese this coming Sunday at 18:00 local time.

Juric’s appointment comes after Roma considered other candidates. The club reportedly beat out competition from Edin Terzic, who recently led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final. Earlier, Roma had also approached Stefano Pioli, but the former AC Milan coach had already committed to joining Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where he will work with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The decision to bring in Juric marks a new chapter for Roma, as they look to climb up the Serie A table and push for European qualification.
