Bayern Munich are the latest club to express an interest in Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt, but they face competition from Chelsea. The Dutch centre-back has reportedly informed the club of his desire to leave Turin this summer, and the Bianconeri are now in the process of negotiating a sale.
The Blues have reportedly tabled an improved offer for the 22-year-old, believed to be in the region of €80m, still well short of Juve’s asking price of €100m.
Sky Sports in Germany report that despite Chelsea being favourites to sign De Ligt, the player would prefer to move to Bayern Munich this summer and the Bundesliga champions have begun negotiations with Juventus.
Florian Plettenberg reports that talks between De Ligt and coach Julian Nagelsmann and director Hasan Salihamidzic impressed the young defender, and he would prefer a move to Germany.
The Bianconeri are reportedly open to offers starting at €80m and while Chelsea are in the lead for the moment, interest in the defender could yet drive the price up.
