Dutch defender reflects on Inter’s draw, looks ahead to Man City challenge

Inter Milan’s Dutch center-back Stefan de Vrij has provided insights on the team’s recent 1-1 draw against Monza and their upcoming Champions League clash with Manchester City.

De Vrij acknowledged Inter’s sluggish performance against Monza, stating, “At times we were a bit too slow, they defended well. It wasn’t easy to find space when they had everyone behind the ball. We could have moved the ball quicker, and been more precise with the final ball.”

The defender also highlighted the team’s preparation for the match and their awareness of Monza’s tactics. “We prepared well for this match over the week,” he said. “We knew they were looking to create that situation,” referring to the cross that led to Monza’s goal.

Looking ahead to the Champions League fixture against Manchester City, de Vrij emphasized the collective effort required to contain City’s prolific striker, Erling Haaland. “We have to stop Haaland as a team,” he asserted. “We have to limit him.”

However, de Vrij was quick to point out that City’s threat extends beyond just Haaland. “It’s not just him,” he added. “He’s scored a lot but they have other players.”
