Serie A | Cagliari 0-4 Napoli: Match Report

Start

Napoli secured their third consecutive victory with a commanding 4-0 win against Cagliari, featuring goals from Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Romelu Lukaku, and Alessandro Buongiorno. The match showcased strong teamwork, as the strikers assisted each other throughout the game.

Lukaku, following an impressive debut off the bench against Parma, earned his first start under coach Antonio Conte, while Kvaratskhelia returned from an ankle injury. Cagliari, missing Matteo Prati, fielded Gianluca Gaetano against his former club.

The scoring opened fortuitously for Napoli when Lukaku set up Di Lorenzo, whose shot took a significant deflection off Yerry Mina, wrong-footing goalkeeper Simone Scuffet. Cagliari responded quickly, with Paulo Azzi forcing a save from Alex Meret, and Sebastiano Luperto blocking a Lukaku attempt.

The match was briefly interrupted due to crowd disturbances, but play resumed with Meret making critical saves, including a stunning stop on a diving header from Luperto. Cagliari’s attempts to equalize were thwarted when Mina hit the crossbar.

In the second half, Meret continued to shine, making an incredible fingertip save on a long-range shot from Razvan Marin. Napoli extended their lead when Kvaratskhelia capitalized on a through ball from Lukaku, scoring with precision into the bottom corner.

Cagliari’s defence faltered shortly after, allowing Kvaratskhelia to intercept a poor pass from Scuffet and assist Lukaku for a simple finish. With the game well in hand, Conte introduced Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour for their debuts. The final goal came from Buongiorno, who headed in a corner from David Neres just before the final whistle, sealing a dominant performance for Napoli.
