Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio shared his thoughts on the club’s current state in a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. He expressed optimism about the team’s progress and highlighted several key players and developments.
On Koopmeiners’ arrival, Marchisio said, “I’m happy about his arrival and that he’s taken the number 8. I wish him the best and hope he brings satisfaction to us Juventus fans.” He drew parallels between himself and Koopmeiners, noting, “Koop also defines himself as an all-around midfielder like me. He has excellent physical qualities, is intelligent on the field, and is a very important addition for Juve.”
Regarding the transfer market, Marchisio believes Juventus has narrowed the gap with Inter Milan: “They’ve invested a lot, which was necessary with the return to Champions League. Inter remain the strongest, but Juventus have gotten closer with their market moves.”
On Douglas Costa and Manuel Locatelli, Marchisio commented, “I think it’s a normal adjustment period for a player coming from a different league. He has fantastic technique… But let’s not forget those who stayed. Locatelli is freer and more serene in his play compared to last season. It’s not to justify Manuel or blame Allegri, these things happen, it happened to me in the past too.”
Marchisio identified Kenan Yildiz as the club’s best acquisition: “The best signing is the trust given to Yildiz with the number 10. Kenan is young like Del Piero was and has similar talents. I hope he explodes with all his talent, which is considerable.”
Finally, on Thiago Motta’s coaching at Bologna, Marchisio remarked, “Given the many changes, I didn’t think Thiago would start so strongly. I’m surprised by the start, not by him. Motta has clear ideas, I know him. I’m glad he’s given space to young players like Mbangula and Savona, but to compete with the big teams in the league and Champions League, you also need experience.”
