Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho shared his thoughts on various topics in a recent interview with Fanatik, including new striker Victor Osimhen. The Portuguese coach discussed his team’s progress, his European ambitions, and offered his opinion on Galatasaray’s star striker.

Reflecting on Fenerbahce’s start to the season, Mourinho stated, “The growth of the players is quite good; of course, 12 points in 4 matches would have been perfect, but we must accept reality.”

Mourinho expressed his determination to succeed in the Europa League, despite the new format. “First of all, I want to progress in the Europa League. It’s a new and unknown format for everyone, but we have to try,” he said. The coach also touched on his past experiences in European competitions, particularly the controversial Europa League final with Roma against Sevilla.

When asked about Victor Osimhen, Mourinho was both complimentary and critical. “Osimhen is a fantastic player. If I were at a club that could spend 70-75 million euros, I would buy him,” Mourinho praised. However, he also addressed a concern about the Nigerian striker’s on-field behavior: “I don’t have problems with Victor, I have a good relationship with him, even though he goes down a lot. I told Osimhen: ‘Look, you’re one of the best players in Africa along with Salah. Before there were Drogba, Eto’o, Weah. You can’t go down so much.'”

Regarding his future in Turkey, Mourinho expressed his commitment to Fenerbahce: “My goal is to succeed at Fenerbahce and they want me to stay for a long time. This is my objective.” He also dismissed the idea of managing a national team in the near future, citing his preference for the day-to-day involvement of club football.
