Bayern Munich have reportedly set its sights on Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies, who is being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. This development comes as the latest chapter in the ongoing transfer relationship between Inter and Bayern, which has seen several players move between the clubs in recent years.
Calciomercato report how Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, former Bayern executive, recently praised his “friend” Beppe Marotta, Inter’s CEO, highlighting the trust and ease of doing business between the two clubs. This relationship has facilitated transfers such as Yann Sommer and Benjamin Pavard moving to Inter, and Ivan Perisic’s loan to Bayern in the past.
The German giants are also competing with Inter and Barcelona for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, whose contract expires in June 2025. Bayern appear to have an advantage in this pursuit, having previously shown interest in the player.
Dimarco, an Italian international, is under contract with Inter until June 2027, earning €4 million net per year. Having come through Inter’s youth academy, he is a fan favorite and aspires to become a club legend. This strong connection to Inter might lead Dimarco to reject Bayern’s advances, following in the footsteps of his teammate Hakan Calhanoglu, who chose to stay in Milan despite interest from other top clubs.
The potential transfer saga is further complicated by Real Madrid’s interest in Davies, whose contract with Bayern expires in June 2025. If Davies departs for Madrid, it could trigger Bayern’s move for Dimarco as a replacement.
