Hellas Verona manager Paolo Zanetti expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance following their 2-0 victory against Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris stadium. In his post-match press conference, Zanetti highlighted the team’s tactical approach and the significance of the win.
“We studied the game as we always do. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t,” Zanetti began. “It was a match with a very high difficulty coefficient, in a wonderful stadium and against a strong team. We were good at staying in the game but also at always wanting to attack certain spaces, where they knew they were conceding to us. We played a complete game, like a real team.”
Reflecting on the team’s strong start to the season, Zanetti added, “Beyond the points, which are important, we don’t deny that it was a dream to start with two wins like this. We were much more humble in terms of predictions, but we worked and proved to ourselves that if we want to, we can do it.”
When asked about specific players, Zanetti praised Faraoni’s contribution, stating, “He can absolutely be considered a new acquisition. He stayed and is part of the group, I believe he can help us and create a duality with Tchatchoua.”
The manager also commended Belahyane’s performance: “He immediately struck me, bearing in mind that we are well equipped in that area of the field. He gave me signals during the week and I put him on the field. He played a stratospheric game, he has an important margin for growth.”
Discussing the team’s tactical flexibility, Zanetti emphasized, “I would like to have a fairly versatile team idea. It’s important to try to have different outfits, otherwise the opponents take your measure.”
Zanetti concluded by revealing his halftime message to the team: “I said we needed to raise our courage a bit. We were well positioned on the field but we could do much more. We entered immediately aggressive and brought the game to a track that we wanted.”
