Alessandro Nesta, Monza’s head coach, addressed the media ahead of their upcoming match against Fiorentina, highlighting the significance of facing his predecessor Raffaele Palladino and discussing the team’s current state.
On the transfer market, Nesta stated, “Something needs to happen. We need to make some moves.”
Regarding the matchup with Palladino, Nesta acknowledged, “There is indeed a rivalry between me and Palladino. He was an important coach for Monza. Fiorentina isn’t at their best, and neither are we. Many teams are facing issues; it’s a time when we need to find our footing and see what we want to achieve. We’re coming off a home defeat, so we need to earn points and do something more.”
Addressing player availability, Nesta said, “Sensi didn’t participate in the pre-season training, he’s back but not in top condition. He’ll likely be on the bench in Florence. Djuric has been training consistently, while Birindelli has had a minor issue, and we’re unsure if he’ll be available for the match.”
On Fiorentina, Nesta commented, “Fiorentina is a strong team. They’ve acquired expensive, high-level players with significant ambitions. They have great physicality up front, despite having their own issues. Their players need to adapt to Palladino’s style of play; we’ll see how it unfolds.”
Reflecting on his team’s approach, Nesta explained, “Each player has their own characteristics and must contribute accordingly. Some teams might not utilize certain player types; it also depends on what the opponent allows on the field. We lost to Genoa, and that’s acceptable. I respect all analyses and opinions.”
Addressing offensive challenges, Nesta concluded, “The issue is delivering crosses in a certain way. What we can do is improve individual players and then how we attack the box. Often, we distribute poorly or remain too static.”
