Lazio’s Baroni prepares for Milan clash, reflects on Udinese defeat

Start

Lazio manager Marco Baroni addressed the media ahead of his team’s crucial Serie A match against AC Milan. The fixture, scheduled for Saturday evening, comes at a challenging time for both sides.

Baroni began the press conference with a heartfelt tribute to Sven-Göran Eriksson, stating, “First, I’d like to remember Eriksson. He was a wonderful person, always attentive to the growth of young players as a coach. It’s a great loss for the entire football world.”

Turning his attention to the upcoming match, Baroni acknowledged the difficulty of the task ahead: “Tomorrow we have a tough game. Despite their underwhelming start, they remain dangerous. They’re the team that has had the most shots on goal, so we’ll need a great performance to get a good result.”

When asked about the Europa League’s impact on the team’s schedule, Baroni echoed his predecessor’s sentiments: “I think like Sarri did – ideally, you’d train your team all week. Football is moving in this direction, and we need to get used to it. It’s a beautiful competition, and we have a duty to give our all.”

Addressing the fitness of key players, Baroni provided an update: “Nuno Tavares and Castrovilli are doing better, but they need to reach the right condition. They’re improving and need time on the pitch, but they don’t have 90 minutes in them yet. They could come on during the game.”

Reflecting on the recent defeat to Udinese, Baroni was candid about the team’s shortcomings: “The loss against Udinese came because of our attitude. We conceded yet another goal after just 5 minutes, and that’s not acceptable. I want to see more offensive production, but at the same time, balance between the lines.”
