Fiorentina are making a last-minute push to bolster their defense before the transfer window closes. The Italian club has set its sights on Nayef Aguerd, the Moroccan center-back currently playing for West Ham United.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Viola have approached West Ham with a loan request for Aguerd, who joined the English club two years ago for a substantial fee of €35 million.
Aguerd, a 27-year-old defender, has been a regular fixture in West Ham’s lineup since his arrival. Last season, he made 28 appearances across all competitions, including the Premier League, Carabao Cup, and Europa League. During this time, he contributed two goals and one assist, showcasing his ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.
Fiorentina’s interest in Aguerd comes as they look to improve their defensive options. The potential loan deal could provide the Italian side with an experienced and versatile defender, while also offering Aguerd the opportunity for regular playing time if he’s not in West Ham’s immediate plans.
