AC Milan and AS Roma are in advanced negotiations over a swap deal that would see Tammy Abraham move to the Rossoneri and Alexis Saelemaekers head to the Giallorossi. The two Serie A clubs are working diligently to finalize the details as the transfer window deadline approaches.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Milan, in need of a striker to support Alvaro Morata, are eager to bring in Abraham. The English forward, who has previously played for Chelsea, is seen as a key addition to bolster their attacking options. To facilitate the deal, Milan is prepared to send Belgian winger Saelemaekers to Roma along with a cash payment of approximately €7 million.
Negotiations have been ongoing, with both clubs striving to reach an agreement on the financial aspects and player salaries involved in the swap. Despite Milan’s initial desire to resolve Luka Jovic’s situation first, the club appears ready to proceed with the Abraham deal regardless of the Serbian’s future.
Roma, on the other hand, sees Saelemaekers as a valuable asset due to his versatility and work rate. The Belgian has impressed during his time on loan at Bologna and is expected to fit well into Roma’s tactical setup.
Paulo Fonseca, Roma’s manager, has expressed his desire to sign Abraham while acknowledging the loss of Saelemaekers. “It’s a strategic move for both clubs. We gain a versatile wide player in Saelemaekers, and Milan gets the striker they need,” a source close to the negotiations stated.
