The long-running transfer saga between Juventus and Teun Koopmeiners appears to be reaching its climax, with just five days remaining in the transfer window. Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that tomorrow could be the decisive day for finalizing the deal, as both the Turin club and the Atalanta midfielder feel they are on the brink of an agreement.
Yesterday saw a significant breakthrough in negotiations, with Juventus receiving an encouraging response from Atalanta’s management. This development has substantially boosted optimism within the Bianconeri camp.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi recently commented on the situation, stating, “Our goal was to retain all important players from last season. This summer, we’re forced to manage unexpected situations that deeply disappoint us. We’ll see in the coming days, but any decision will be made for the good of the club.”
After initial resistance from Atalanta, who were reluctant to negotiate with Juventus and hoped to reconcile with the player, the two clubs have resumed talks and made significant progress. Juventus is prepared to make a substantial investment of nearly €60 million, the figure Atalanta has been demanding from the start. The deal is reportedly close to completion at €55 million plus bonuses.
Koopmeiners, who has been sidelined since early August, is eager to join Juventus and resume training. He has long had an agreement with the club for a five-year contract worth €4 million per season. The Dutch midfielder has been pressuring Atalanta to honor a promise made to him a year ago when the club rejected a €48 million offer from Napoli.
