Como have successfully completed the signing of Nico Paz from Real Madrid in a complex transaction, with Cesc Fabregas praising him as “an exciting talent.”
The transfer fee is reportedly €6 million, but Real Madrid retains 50% of any future sell-on fee, meaning Como effectively shares ownership of the player. Additionally, Real Madrid has secured a buy-back clause, allowing them the option to re-sign Paz.
“There was significant interest in Nico from other clubs, which is understandable,” Como coach Fabregas stated on the club’s website. “Every opportunity he had on the field last season, alongside some of the world’s best players, he capitalized on to showcase his abilities and made a notable impact. He’s an exciting talent, left-footed, and versatile both on the wing and in the center. I am eager to work with him.”
Nico Paz, who will turn 20 next month, has already been called up to the Argentina senior squad after playing for their Under-20 and Under-23 teams. He is the son of former Argentina international Pablo Paz. During his time with Real Madrid, he made eight senior appearances and scored once in a 4-2 Champions League victory over Napoli in November 2023.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Paz told the Como website, “It means a lot to me, and I am very happy to join this family. For me, it’s a step forward in my career, and I’m thrilled to be part of this project. I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
Paz has signed a four-year contract with Como, who have recently been promoted to Serie A. He is among several new additions to the team this week, including Maximo Perrone from Manchester City and former Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto, who joined as a free agent.
