Atalanta suffered a 2-1 defeat against Torino, despite taking an early lead through Retegui’s third goal in two matches. The Nerazzurri were ultimately undone by goals from Ivan Ilic and Che Adams. Following the match, Atalanta’s manager Gian Piero Gasperini shared his thoughts in a post-game press conference.
Gasperini began by acknowledging the performance of his goalkeeper, stating, “Carnesecchi made some good saves. We made a few mistakes, but overall, the number of shots and chances were too many. The team performed well on the field, and the result was determined by certain incidents.”
The experienced coach then addressed the changes in his squad composition, noting, “This is our team now. Compared to June, we have 13 fewer players. That’s a significant number out of 21 outfield players.”
Despite the loss, Gasperini expressed satisfaction with his team’s recent performances, saying, “Despite this, we’ve played two good matches in the league (against Lecce and Torino). It’s unfortunate about Pasalic’s penalty. But I’m satisfied with the performance.”
