Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts following the team’s 2-0 victory over Lecce, securing their first win of the Serie A season. The coach addressed various topics, including the team’s performance, player rotations, and the competitive landscape of the league.
Inzaghi began by emphasizing the team’s hunger for success: “We always need hunger. Tonight I was quite calm. The boys are training well, and I think we played a good game. There were positive signs in Genoa. We conceded two avoidable goals, but I saw a team that committed and fought.”
Regarding Lautaro Martinez’s condition, Inzaghi remained cautious: “Will he be available against Atalanta? I don’t know. Friday morning he woke up with pain. Together with the staff, we decided not to risk him, which is normal at the start of the season. Now we’ll try to recover him for Friday, we’ll see day by day.”
On squad rotation and the busy schedule, the coach explained: “In the second half we were managing well, I didn’t see any problems. I had eight players on the bench, all ready and trained in the best way. Now I have the possibility to choose. We are working well, they are serious guys who work for the good of Inter.”
Inzaghi also commented on their competitors: “We look at ourselves. Other teams are all strengthening and will have the same objectives as us. Playing in August is not easy. With Genoa and Lecce we struggled but played two excellent games.”
He concluded by praising the team’s collective effort: “We must not be anchored to the top players. We won last year because the entire squad gave excellent signals. Taremi? He has integrated very well. He played a game that wasn’t flashy but was very important for us. He was always at the service of the team.”
