Bologna are ramping up its transfer activities in the final days of the summer window, with a particular focus on strengthening their defensive line. Having already secured the signings of Benjamin Dominguez and Tommaso Pobega, the club’s management is now turning its attention to bolstering the backline, where Martin Erlic has already been added from Sassuolo.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports how with the Champions League campaign on the horizon, Bologna are keen to reinforce its squad depth. After facing difficulties in acquiring Logan Costa, who ultimately joined Villarreal, the club has cast its net wider in search of defensive reinforcements.
One of the primary targets for Bologna is Jakub Kiwior, the Polish defender currently at Arsenal. Kiwior, who was on the bench for Arsenal’s recent match against Aston Villa, could potentially join Bologna on a paid loan deal.
However, Bologna’s defensive pursuit doesn’t end with Kiwior. The club has now approached Olympique Marseille for Chancel Mbemba, inquiring about a loan deal for the experienced Congolese defender. Marseille’s asking price is reported to be around 6 million euros.
Mbemba brings a wealth of experience to the table. His career has seen him play for notable clubs such as Anderlecht, Newcastle United, and Porto before his current stint at Marseille.
