Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now a senior advisor for RedBird Capital, the owner of AC Milan, shared his insights on the club’s recent transfer activities and future plans in an interview with DAZN before Milan’s match against Parma.
When asked if he still feels the urge to play, Ibrahimovic was clear: “That’s in the past. Since I stopped, that feeling has passed.” He emphasized that Milan has successfully met their transfer objectives by acquiring players with strong personalities, which he believes was missing last season. “We’ve brought in players who add character and human qualities to our young squad,” he noted, expressing hope for a successful season.
Regarding the possibility of further signings, Ibrahimovic hinted that the transfer window might not be entirely closed. “We have doubled our positions on the field, and we have Milan Futuro to consider. Bringing in too many players could hinder the development of our young talents. We believe in our youth and are not afraid to give them opportunities,” he explained. With the transfer window nearing its end, he remained cryptic, saying, “We are on day six of seven, so we’ll see what happens.”
Ibrahimovic also discussed his role in mentoring young players, highlighting the importance of balance. “One day you hug them, the next you put pressure. It’s part of the process, both on and off the field. Once they step forward, they mustn’t take steps back.”
On Alvaro Morata, who traveled with the team despite an injury, Ibrahimovic praised his leadership qualities. “He is one of the leaders we sought. His presence is important for our young team, bringing experience both mentally and on the field.”
