Gazzetta: Atalanta closing on deals for Wesley and O’Riley

Start

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta are making significant progress in their pursuit of Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley as a replacement for Juventus-bound Teun Koopmeiners. The Italian club has increased their offer to €27 million, just €2 million short of Celtic’s asking price of €29 million. There is growing confidence that the deal could be finalized soon, despite competition from Brighton.

O’Riley, a 24-year-old Danish international, is seen as the ideal replacement for Koopmeiners, whose move to Juventus for around €55 million hinges on Atalanta securing a suitable replacement. The player’s preference for Atalanta and the prospect of Champions League football are working in the Italian club’s favor.

In addition to O’Riley, Atalanta is close to signing Brazilian right-back Wesley from Flamengo. The club has offered €16 million plus bonuses for the 20-year-old, with negotiations in the final stages.

Atalanta is also considering other defensive options, including Kevin Danso, a 25-year-old Austrian center-back from Lens, valued at €25 million.

On the outgoing front, Atalanta is fielding offers for El Bilal Touré, with Stuttgart interested in a loan deal and Bournemouth considering a permanent transfer. The club is also evaluating goalkeeper Juan Musso’s situation, with potential interest from Napoli and Fiorentina, though no concrete offers have been made yet.
