Start

Alexis Sanchez has made his triumphant return to Udinese after 13 years, addressing the media in a press conference to mark his homecoming. The Chilean striker expressed his excitement and readiness to contribute to the team’s success.

“I want to greet everyone. It’s been thirteen years since I was last here, and I’ve seen everything change, including the stadium. The fans are closer than ever,” Sanchez began. Despite not feeling 100% fit, he assured that he’s prepared to help the team, leaving the final decision to the coach.

Reflecting on his choice to return to Udinese, Sanchez revealed, “I had other offers both in South America and Italy, but I chose to come back here to feel at home and be happy. My goal is to regain the best possible physical shape. I returned because I’m an Udinese fan, my first team outside Chile.”

The striker emphasized his commitment to the club, stating, “I’m not here on vacation, but because I have faith in the players we have.” He also praised the people of Friuli, describing them as “really special” and noting that to understand their kindness, “you have to live here for at least a year.”

Regarding his national team aspirations, Sanchez sees Serie A as one of the world’s top three leagues and aims to play consistently to earn a call-up to the Chilean national team. He expressed his excitement about facing challenges with Udinese, drawing parallels to his experience at Inter Milan where they achieved great things together.

On his departure from Inter, Sanchez clarified, “I was happy, but even if they had asked me to stay another year, I would have still decided to leave. Everyone was spectacular to me, and I want to thank everyone in Milan for their welcome and support.”

Sanchez also mentioned his ongoing communication with Udinese legend Antonio Di Natale, who “writes to me every day,” and expressed his affection for the local people. He concluded by praising teammate Florian Thauvin, stating, “It’s fantastic to have a player who knows football so well like him in the squad.”

As Sanchez embarks on this new chapter with Udinese, his words reflect a mix of nostalgia, determination, and optimism for the future, promising an exciting season ahead for the Bianconeri faithful.
