After weeks of negotiations, Napoli are on the verge of securing a deal for Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour. The Italian club have reached a personal agreement with Gilmour, and further discussions with Brighton are scheduled to finalize the transfer.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Napoli aim to complete the deal by August 14, with the transfer fee expected to be €12 million plus an additional €3 million in bonuses. Gilmour, a product of Chelsea’s youth system, has been a long-term target for Napoli and is set to join under the management of Antonio Conte.
In addition to pursuing Gilmour, Napoli also made an attempt to sign another Scottish midfielder, Scott McTominay, from Manchester United. However, the proposal for a loan deal was not accepted by the English club, as United did not agree to the terms suggested by Napoli.
Napoli’s sporting director, Manna, has been actively working in London to secure these transfers, reflecting the club’s strategic moves in the current transfer window.
