Atalanta face uncertainty with Pubill, accelerate move for Flamengo’s Wesley

Start

Atalanta’s transfer dealings have taken a dramatic turn as the club faces uncertainty over the signing of Marc Pubill from Almería. The Spanish right-back, who recently arrived in Milan and began his medical examinations, is undergoing further tests today, raising concerns about the completion of his transfer. Initially deemed a done deal, the move now hangs in the balance, with Atalanta waiting to ensure there are no complications before proceeding.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Atalanta are not slowing down in the transfer market and has accelerated efforts to secure Wesley Vinícius França Lima from Flamengo. The Brazilian right-back, known for his speed and technical ability, is valued at around €15-16 million. Atalanta see Wesley as a versatile addition who can provide depth on the right flank, similar to Pubill, but with the potential to also play centrally due to his physical attributes.

Wesley’s football journey took a significant turn in January 2021 when he moved from the youth ranks of Tubarao to Flamengo, thanks to the keen eye of former Real Madrid winger Savio. Wesley’s rapid development has caught the attention of top clubs, including Barcelona, and now Atalanta is keen to bring him to Italy.

Off the pitch, Wesley has shown a compassionate side by supporting a campaign for a 13-year-old girl with cystic fibrosis. He not only donated to her cause but also tattooed her name on his forearm to raise awareness.
