Juventus confident of closing Todibo deal

Start

Juventus are making a strategic move to secure the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, with the club revising their offer to facilitate the transfer. The Italian giants are eager to strengthen their defence after conceding five goals in their first three friendly matches of the season. Despite a clean sheet in a recent friendly, Juventus remains focused on enhancing their defensive lineup. Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ sporting director, is keen to bring Todibo to Turin to bolster the backline, particularly as Daniele Rugani and Tiago Djaló are set to leave, having been deemed surplus to requirements by coach Thiago Motta.

La Gazzetta dello Sprot outline how the transition from a three-man to a four-man defense has posed challenges for Juventus, but Todibo is seen as the ideal addition to complete the defensive setup. Negotiations have been ongoing, but differences over the purchase terms have stalled progress. However, Juventus, buoyed by Todibo’s commitment to joining them, have approached Nice with a revised proposal to resolve the impasse. They are considering adjusting the conditions of the purchase option, potentially reducing the number of appearances required and removing the Champions League qualification clause, to make the deal more appealing to Nice.

Tuttosport report on similar lines, suggesting that the final agreement is expected to be a loan deal which include an obligation to buy, if Juventus qualify for the next seasons Champions League, and the player reaches 40% of appearances for the season.

Meanwhile, Juventus are also pursuing other transfer targets, including midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. Despite Atalanta’s firm stance, especially after Gianluca Scamacca’s injury, Juventus remain determined to secure Koopmeiners, aiming to meet Atalanta’s valuation with a potential offer of €50 million plus bonuses. Additionally, Juventus are exploring options to strengthen their wing positions, with Porto’s Galeno and Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez on their radar. Juventus hopes to include players like Djaló, McKennie, or Arthur as part of these deals to lower the transfer fees.
