Former Juventus youth product Gianluca Frabotta has officially completed his transfer to West Bromwich Albion. The 25-year-old left-back will be playing in the English Championship starting from the 2024/2025 season.
Frabotta, who has been with Juventus since 2019, spent the previous season on loan in Serie B, first with Bari and then with Cosenza. During this period, he made a total of 22 appearances and scored 3 goals.
The defender’s time at Juventus saw him win the Coppa Italia Serie C with the Under-23 team (now Next Gen) in 2020. He also made his first-team debut in the same season and scored his first goal for the senior team in a Coppa Italia match against SPAL.
West Brom have secured Frabotta on a free transfer, though reports suggest there is a 20% sell-on clause included in the deal. The player is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Championship club.
This move represents a new challenge for Frabotta as he embarks on his first experience in English football. The transfer also marks the end of his time with Juventus, where he showed promise but struggled to establish himself as a regular in the first team.
West Brom appear to have beaten out competition from QPR, who were previously reported to be close to signing the Italian defender. This acquisition could prove valuable for West Brom as they aim for promotion to the Premier League.
