Hans Hateboer has bid farewell to Atalanta and Serie A, as the Dutch winger is set to join Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais. This transfer will bring €3 million into Atalanta’s coffers and marks another departure for Atalanta, following the exits of Roberto Piccoli, Ndary Adopo, Nadir Zortea (to Cagliari), Aleksej Miranchuk (to Atlanta United), Caleb Okoli (to Leicester City), Nicolò Cambiaghi (to Bologna), and Pierluigi Gollini (to Genoa).
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Hateboer’s transfer to Rennes is yet another deal orchestrated by the French club’s sporting director, Frederic Massara, who has a history of transactions with Serie A clubs. Recently, Massara negotiated with Roma for the sale of Enzo Le Fée and with Napoli for the purchase of Leo Skiri Ostigard.
Hateboer leaves Atalanta after seven years, having joined as a young prospect from Groningen in the Eredivisie at the age of 23. Now 30, he departs after earning a call-up to the Dutch national team and winning the Europa League with Atalanta. This will be his first experience in the French league.
