Eder, the former Inter Milan and Sampdoria striker, has announced his retirement from professional football. In a recent interview with Sky Sport, the Italian-Brazilian forward reflected on his time in Italy and his experience at Euro 2016 under Antonio Conte’s management.

Speaking about his career in Italy, Eder expressed gratitude for the support he received: “Everyone in Italy gave me so much. I’m grateful to all for how they treated me. I received a video from Conte, Pirlo, and others. I thank everyone for how they treated me.”

Eder’s final match will be against Atletico Mineiro, where his current club has prepared a special jersey commemorating his time with the Italian national team. He acknowledged the significance of his career in Italy, stating, “The club knows that I spent most of my career there.”

Recalling his experience at Euro 2016, Eder highlighted the impact of Antonio Conte’s leadership: “Conte’s mentality made the difference. What he transmitted to us was crucial. We immediately won against Belgium, then we beat Spain. We were eliminated on penalties against Germany, the World Champions at the time. We were a real team. We achieved some great satisfactions. I have unique memories.”

Looking ahead, Eder shared his thoughts on Conte’s new role at Napoli: “Knowing him, I think he will do a good job at Napoli. Inter will start the new season with last year’s coach. But Napoli will be able to challenge everyone, it will be tough to play there.”
