Roma are reportedly considering bolstering their defensive lineup, with Genoa’s Koni De Winter emerging as a potential target. The 22-year-old Belgian defender has caught the eye of Roma’s recruitment team following his impressive performances in the 2023-24 season.
According to recent reports from Sportitalia (via Romapress), Roma have initiated preliminary contact with De Winter’s representatives. This initial approach is understood to be an exploratory inquiry, aimed at gauging the player’s availability and potential transfer costs.
De Winter, who initially joined Genoa on loan from Juventus last summer, has since become a permanent fixture in the Grifoni’s squad. His solid performances throughout the season, which saw him make 31 appearances across Serie A and Coppa Italia, prompted Genoa to exercise their option to make the transfer permanent.
The young center-back’s consistent displays have not gone unnoticed, with Roma now considering him as a viable option to strengthen their backline for the upcoming season. As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Roma’s interest will develop into a formal approach for the promising Belgian defender.
