OFFICIAL: Hellas Verona sign Grigoris Kastanos

Hellas Verona have announced the acquisition of Cypriot midfielder Grigoris Kastanos from Serie B side Salernitana. The 25-year-old joins on a loan deal until June 30, 2025, with an option and obligation to buy under certain conditions.

Kastanos began his football journey with EN Paralimni before joining Juventus’ youth academy in 2014. His professional career has seen him gain valuable experience across various clubs and leagues.

A statement on Verona’s official website confirmed the news:

“Verona – Hellas Verona FC announces that they have acquired – on loan until 30th June 2025, with an option and obligation to buy back under certain conditions – from Unione Sportiva Salernitana the registration rights of Cypriot midfielder Grigoris Kastanos.

Born on 30th January 1998 in Sotira, on the island of Cyprus, Kastanos began his career in the youth ranks of EN Paralimni, a Cypriot club where he played from 2010 to 2014, before being signed by the Juventus youth sector.

In the 2016/17 season, the midfielder moved on loan to Pescara, with whom he made his Serie A debut on 28th January 2017 against Inter at the ‘Meazza’ stadium in Milan. The following year he went on loan to Zulte Waregem, a Belgian team with whom he played in the top National league and also made his European debut, on 14th September 2017 against Nizza in an EUFA Europa League match.

In the 2018/19 season, he returned to Juventus with whom he made 30 appearances and three goals with the Under 23 selection and made his Serie A debut in the Bianconeri shirt on 13th April 2019, in the league match played away against SPAL.

In the following two years Kastanos remained in Italy, playing in the cadetto league first again for Pescara and then with Frosinone, on loan from the Bianconeri in both experiences. From the 2021/22 season, the midfielder moved permanently to Salernitana, a Club with which he scored six goals and six assists in 86 appearances in three years.

With the Cypriot National team, Kastanos made his first-team debut on 28th March 2015. In his career so far, he has collected 54 appearances and six goals with the senior selection.
