Inter keep tabs open for Genoa Star Albert Gudmundsson

Start

With the clock ticking until the 2024/25 Serie A campaign kicks off, as well as the closure of the summer transfer window, the defending scudetto holders Inter seek to add reinforcements within the front-line as they maintain their tabs open for their long-time summer target Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa.

Milanese journal La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that despite the Nerazzurri having explored the likes of Frenchman Anthony Martial and Dutch marksman Memphis Depay, whom both are currently available as free agents, the 27 year-old remains as coach Simone Inzaghi’s primary target for depth up-top, as he has been under Inter’s radar for several months.

With a hefty transfer fee attached to the Rossoblu star, it is very likely that Inter will attempt to lure Gudmundsson with a loan deal that would include an option or obligation to purchase the talisman at the end of the season.

However, in order to proceed with an offer for the Genoa clinical goal-scorer, Inter must offload some pieces of the squad in order to make room for their main candidate within the front-line.

One player who is currently set to depart the Nerazzurri is Argentine rising star Valentin Carboni, who is set to join Ligue 1 giants Marseille on a costly loan which includes a 2m, as well as an option to buy worth 40m.

Another player who Inter are eager to part-ways with is former Lazio and Sevilla forward Joaquin Correa. Since reuniting with Simone Inzaghi at Inter after having played under the helm of the Italian tactician during their time at the Biancocelesti, Correa has failed to impress and find consistency with the Nerazzurri, forcing Inter to send him out on loan to Marseille. With the Ligue 1 outfits having failed to qualify for this year’s edition of the Champions League, Correa has been forced to return to Inter as the option to buy was not able to be activated.

Inter are set to begin negotiations with River Plate and AEK Athens in order to find a solution regarding the future and potential departure of Joaquin Correa from the Milanese club.

Furthermore, one player that could be on the cusp of parting ways with Inter is former Bologna forward Marko Arnautovic. After failing to hit the ground running last season with an unimpressive form of five goals and three assists in 27 appearances within the Serie A, the Nerazzurri board is not too fond of the veteran, despite Inzaghi insisting on keeping the player for an additional season.

Whilst it still remains unclear whether Arnautovic will be offloaded from last year’s scudetto winners, Turkish side Trabzonspor have reportedly asked information regarding 35 year-old forward, which could see the Austrian skipper depart Inter if the Beneamata ultimately decide to pursue negotiations and reach an agreement.
