Fofana remains primary target for AC Milan, but Javi Guerra an alternative

Start

AC Milan continue their quest to strengthen the midfield, with Youssouf Fofana of Monaco still the primary target. Geoffrey Moncada, Milan’s chief scout, has identified Fofana as the ideal reinforcement for the team’s midfield. The club maintains regular contact with the French international’s agent, hoping to overcome Monaco’s €25 million valuation.

However, the Rossoneri are also exploring alternative options, recognizing the need for backup plans in case the Fofana deal falls through. One such alternative that has caught Milan’s attention is Javi Guerra from Valencia.

Javi Guerra: The Spanish Midfield Gem

Calciomercato report that Javier Guerra Moreno, known simply as Javi, is the latest product of Spain’s renowned midfield talent factory. A graduate of Valencia’s youth academy, Javi secured his place in the first team during the 2022-2023 season and has since become an integral part of the squad.

Born in 2003, Javi combines excellent physical attributes with impressive technical and tactical skills. He’s versatile enough to play as a classic box-to-box midfielder, linking defense and attack, or as a double pivot in front of the defense, where his ability to read the game makes him effective in breaking up opposition plays.

Milan’s interest in Javi Guerra is serious, with the club recently making an exploratory contact with his Italian intermediary. However, time is not on Milan’s side in this potential deal.

Real Sociedad Leading the Race

While Milan’s primary focus remains on Fofana, their hesitation to fully commit to pursuing Javi Guerra could cost them. Real Sociedad has emerged as the frontrunner for the Spanish midfielder’s signature. The Basque club is putting pressure on Valencia and is reportedly close to meeting the €20 million asking price, potentially beating out competition from Girona as well.

Milan’s Midfield Dilemma

As the transfer window progresses, Milan finds itself at a crossroads. The club must balance its pursuit of Fofana with the need to secure a quality midfielder before other targets become unavailable. The situation with Javi Guerra highlights the competitive nature of the transfer market and the importance of having multiple options.
