In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Italian striker Luca Toni shared his thoughts on the upcoming Serie A season, highlighting potential challengers to Inter Milan and discussing the prospects of Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic.

Toni emphasized the importance of Vlahovic’s fitness, stating, “Arriving at pre-season training in good condition is crucial for a striker of Vlahovic’s stature. Having a smooth preparation, without setbacks, makes a difference in the long run. It’s still early days, these are just the first friendlies, and Juventus is undergoing significant changes.”

When asked about Cesare Prandelli’s prediction of a 30-goal season for Vlahovic under new coach Thiago Motta, Toni responded, “I’m not sure if it will be 30, 25, or 20 goals for Dusan next year. But I’m certain that Thiago Motta will help Vlahovic play more with the team. Beyond just scoring, which Vlahovic has always done, I’m convinced the Serbian will be more central to Juve’s play. Motta is a coach who knows how to utilize a center-forward effectively, integrating him well with the team.”

Toni believes Vlahovic could be a strong contender to challenge Inter’s Lautaro Martinez for the top scorer title. “Definitely. If Vlahovic is in form and Juve performs well, we’ll see an exciting battle. But let’s also see if Osimhen stays at Napoli or leaves. And keep an eye on Morata. Alvaro is a striker I’ve always liked, and he’ll be a valuable addition for Milan.”

Regarding the main challenger to Inter for the Scudetto, Toni cautioned, “Thiago Motta’s Juventus should aim for the top positions. But watch out for Napoli: they have a high-quality squad, and Conte is a winner.”
