Juventus reportedly remain determined to secure the services of Teun Koopmeiners, but Atalanta are keen to have the move completed within a timeframe. Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ sporting director, has been working for months to bring Koopmeiners to Turin before the end of the summer transfer window. The player is seen as the perfect reinforcement for Thiago Motta’s squad, given his versatility in both defensive and attacking roles, as well as his goal-scoring ability.
Calciomercato outline how Atalanta, aware of Koopmeiners’ value, have maintained their asking price of €60 million. The club’s CEO, Luca Percassi, recently stated that Koopmeiners is a fundamental player and his sale was never planned. However, Atalanta might reconsider if Juventus meets their valuation.
A crucial factor in this potential transfer is timing. Atalanta have set a deadline for the deal to be completed, preferably by mid-August. This deadline is based on their experience last year when they rejected a €47 million offer from Napoli on August 17, considering it too late in the transfer window. Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, wants to start the season without any uncertainties, especially with the European Super Cup match against Real Madrid scheduled for August 14 in Warsaw.
Koopmeiners and his representatives have already reached an agreement with Juventus for a multi-year contract worth €4.5 million net per season. However, they are not looking to force a move. Atalanta has made it clear that the player has not expressed any discontent or desire to leave, and his relationship with the club and fans remains strong.
For Juventus to complete this transfer, they may need to sell some of their assets. The potential sale of Matias Soulé is being considered as a way to raise funds for the Koopmeiners deal.
