Juventus are closing in on the signing of Porto’s talented winger, Wenderson Galeno, who is eager to work under Thiago Motta. Despite having admirers in the Premier League and a release clause set at €60 million, Juventus believes they can secure the Brazilian for significantly less.
La Gazzetta dello Sport outline how currently in their training camp in Herzogenaurach, Germany, Juventus’s technical director Cristiano Giuntoli and head coach Thiago Motta are focused on strengthening the squad. Alongside Galeno, Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi and Porto’s Francisco Conceicao are also on their radar, especially after cooling interest in Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. The club’s strategy involves signing two wingers for the price of one, potentially through a combination of a purchase and a loan with an option to buy.
While Dortmund remain firm on their stance regarding Adeyemi, Porto appear more flexible. The club is under financial pressure to comply with UEFA’s financial fair play regulations, making Galeno a likely candidate for sale. Although his release clause is €60 million, insiders suggest that a deal could be struck for around €30-35 million plus bonuses.
Galeno has expressed a preference for Juventus over Premier League clubs, which is a positive sign for the Italian side. Negotiations are ongoing to lower Porto’s demands and finalize the transfer.
In addition to Galeno, Juventus has also explored options like Pepé and Francisco Conceicao from Porto. Conceicao, who recently scored at Euro 2024, is seen as an alternative to Adeyemi and Galeno and could be available on a loan deal.
