Reports from Italy suggest Napoli have set their sights on AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah as they continue their search for new talent. Following their defensive reinforcements, Napoli’s next moves in the transfer market will largely depend on their ability to sell players, starting with Victor Osimhen, according to La Repubblica.
Musah, who is 21 years old, had a gradual start at Milan last season after his €20 million transfer. However, his playing time increased steadily, culminating in 30 appearances and 2 assists. The American international, who has already earned 39 caps for the USMNT, is under contract with Milan until 2028.
Napoli had previously shown interest in Brighton’s Billy Gilmour but shifted their focus to Musah after their initial offer for Gilmour was rejected. Brighton’s president confirmed that there had been no further communication from Napoli following the rejection.
In addition to their interest in Musah, Napoli’s manager Antonio Conte has requested another winger, with David Neres and Domenico Berardi being the primary targets. There has been less substantial interest in Federico Chiesa.
While Napoli are keen to bolster their midfield, AC Milan are reportedly hesitant to let Musah go, given his potential and the significant investment they made last year. Milan might consider offloading other midfielders, such as Tommaso Pobega or Ismael Bennacer, if they secure new signings like Youssouf Fofana and Lazar Samardzic. Musah’s valuation may also exceed what Napoli is willing to pay for a player who would initially serve as a deputy.
