Il Corriere dello Sport report that Lazio’s transfer campaign is nearly complete, with only one final piece missing that could make a significant difference. This year, Lazio have moved more quickly than in the past, allowing new coach Marco Baroni to work with almost the entire squad during the Auronzo di Cadore training camp. However, they still need an additional attacking player to complete their offensive lineup.
The newspaper report that the choice will be between a winger or an attacking midfielder, with a striker being a secondary option, contingent on the future of Castellanos. This decision will depend on Baroni’s assessments, market opportunities, and the club’s willingness to secure a major signing or settle for a functional player suited to their technical project.
Lazio’s Pursuit of Laurienté
If the first option is chosen, it could boost the team’s enthusiasm and positively impact the season ticket campaign, which recently entered the open sale phase after 20,300 tickets were sold in the initial phase (compared to 30,333 last year). A strategic meeting in Rome between Baroni and sporting director Fabiani will soon determine the next steps. Meanwhile, Lazio seems to be exploring two parallel paths: wingers and “number 10” playmakers. The evolution of Guendouzi into the advanced role of the 4-2-3-1 formation might favor the option of signing an external attacker, with Laurienté, a 25-year-old valued at 15 million euros plus bonuses by Sassuolo, being the most prominent name. Lazio has already agreed on a base salary of 1.5 million euros per year plus bonuses with the player, but the situation remains on hold as Lotito has currently allocated 10 million euros, with a potential increase to 11 million.
Another winger on the radar is Viktor Djukanovic from Hammarby. The 2005-born Montenegrin could be acquired for 4-5 million euros, and the Swedish club’s sporting director has confirmed ongoing discussions, though no formal offers have been made yet.
Other Options for Lazio
Calvin Stengs, an offensive all-rounder from Feyenoord, has also been considered. He has played as a winger but wears the number 10 jersey. There was even talk of including Isaksen as a technical counterpart, but Baroni has protected the Danish player in a press conference. Stengs’ situation remains under evaluation, especially since some sales are necessary to facilitate new signings.
Potential acquisitions for the attacking midfielder role include Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland, the 18-year-old brother of Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, valued between 12 and 15 million euros. Despite conflicting reports about him, he remains on the list alongside 24-year-old Eduard Spertsyan from Krasnodar and 20-year-old Bilal El Khannouss from Genk. These players are being closely monitored as Lazio looks to finalize their squad.
With the transfer campaign almost complete, Lotito is in no rush, especially after the disappointment of the failed Greenwood deal. The idea of redeeming themselves with a significant signing, provided certain conditions are met, has been enticing for some time.
