Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta provided updates on the club’s transfer activities in an interview with Sky Sport. He emphasized the club’s strategy and recent signings, as well as addressing rumors about potential new players:
“We have almost entirely retained last year’s squad, adding important players like Taremi, Zielinski, and Martinez. This has made the team competitive for our objectives. We have an excellent coach in Simone Inzaghi, a high-level managerial and technical staff, and a great fan base. With these foundations, we are ready for the new season,” Marotta stated.
Lautaro Martinez’s Contract Extension
Marotta confirmed the renewal of Lautaro Martinez’s contract, saying, “Lautaro Martinez has already signed the contract renewal. We are waiting for his return from vacation to announce it officially.”
Antonio Conte at Napoli
Commenting on Antonio Conte’s move to Napoli, Marotta said, “The more protagonists we have in the Italian championship, the better. Conte is a good coach, so he will bring all his abilities to a great club like Napoli, which will surely be among the candidates for the Scudetto.”
No Interest in Gudmundsson
Addressing rumors about a potential move for Gudmundsson, Marotta clarified, “He is not an option. At this moment, we have an attack rich in quality, values, and numbers. I am not saying we are not interested, but right now he does not suit our needs.”
Potential Striker Moves
Marotta hinted that Inter might consider signing the Icelandic striker from Genoa only if there are departures among their current forwards. “Inter could take the Icelandic striker from Genoa (who scored in the 3-1 friendly win against Venezia) only if at least two among Arnautovic, Correa, and Carboni leave. Carboni is currently in negotiations with the French club Marseille, coached by Italian Roberto De Zerbi, while there have been no concrete offers for Arnautovic and Correa yet.”
