Bayer Leverkusen have joined the competition to acquire Juventus defender Dean Huijsen, directly engaging with the player’s father. This move puts them in contention with several other clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund, and Newcastle United.
Huijsen, a 19-year-old talent, recently completed a six-month loan spell with Roma. Footmercato report that Juventus are expected to sell him this summer for around €30 million, with plans to use the funds to secure Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta.
While PSG had been leading the race for Huijsen’s signature, their interest appears to have waned slightly. Bayer Leverkusen has seized this opportunity, with coach Xabi Alonso personally reaching out to Huijsen’s father and representatives to explore a potential deal.
Despite his young age, Huijsen has already shown promise as a goal-scoring defender. In his 14 Serie A appearances, he found the net twice, and across his entire career of 86 matches, he has scored an impressive 20 goals.
Born in Amsterdam, Huijsen’s football journey took him to Spain at a young age, where he began his development in Malaga’s youth academy before moving to Juventus in 2021. His unique combination of defensive skills and goal-scoring ability has made him a highly sought-after prospect in the transfer market.
